WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT: MAKEUP TUTORIAL FOR SMOULDERING EYES, KILLER BROWS, AND FACE STROBING
After many years of wondering how on earth some of the local Emirati women do their makeup, coupled with failing miserably at Kim Kardashian-style contouring, I decided enough was enough and headed down to MAC Cosmetics at Bloomingdale’s in Dubai to meet with makeup guru Pearl Delgado for a step-by-step makeup tutorial.
It’s all about the eyes in this look but you mustn’t forget the brows and contouring because they’re what pull everything together. A perfect evening face has to consist of irresistibly smokey eyes and some awesome contouring, so here’s a full-blown makeup tutorial on how to achieve that va-va-voom look.
P.S. – I know you’re busy so I’ve listed all of the MAC products used under each section. I’ve also included the colours that Pearl used on me but of course, consult with your MAC makeup guru to get the right shades for your complexion. The next time you go shopping, just refer to this post!
The number one rule: Always, always, always do eyes first, then face. Seems logical really, but we girls can toss logic out the window at times (especially when we’re in a rush or have a bajillion things to do), so consider this a friendly reminder!
Start with a freshly cleansed face and then spray Prep + Prime Fix+ to add instant hydration to the skin. Follow with your favourite moisturizer.
Use “Smolder” Eye Kohl and literally colour in the eyelid (just the lid!) so it is pitch black. It’s not as scary as it sounds – this will make for that intense color you’re looking for, hence reading this tutorial!
Next is the transition color. With the #239 Eye Shader Brush, apply “Folie” Eye Shadow to the outer eyelid. Sweep across the top of the lid in a circular motion. Be sure you don’t pull it up to the brow bone because that’s where the highlighter will be applied.
Grab a cotton bud and Pro Eye Makeup Remover to clean everything up and remove any smudges.
TIP: To create a sharp line that wings up from the outer corner of the eye, use a cotton bud with a pointed tip, place it at an angle, and then sweep up for that killer line.
Gently outline your brow with the gelcreme, then immediately blend it upwards before it dries. There shouldn’t be any gaps and the gelcreme applied to the outline should fill in the whole brow. Use Dirty Blonde with Deep Brunette at the ends. Blend together.
Et voilà! You sexy minx, you. Go take those smokey eyes, perfect brows, and poppin’ cheekbones out on the town and be prepared for some jaw-dropping reactions.
